Is your website set up for conversions?

What brought this subject up was I’m in the process of doing a website makeover and what I was sharing with this client was that people do not read websites, they scan them. What is going through their mind as they are scanning is, “can you help me solve my problem?” They aren’t interested in the history of your company or your background.

When someone comes to your website page, they are there because they are curious and if you don’t have a great one-liner to pique their interest they are gone. People take information and move it through a mental filter of survival. can whatever it is you’re referencing, make me thrive? If you do, they stay, and you can share with them how you can go about helping them.
So, on the top fold of the web page the following 3 questions should be answered:

1. What is it that you offer?

2. How will your product or service make their lives better?

3. What do they need to do to buy it?

This is often referred to as the grunt test, could a caveman in 5 seconds figure out exactly what you are selling?
